Thanks you, but its kind of bitter sweet, we only had 30 memberships because we renewed everyone in the club. We only added like 3 new members, I wish that number was a lot higher.

Kurt, my point was that none of those reasons are new. They were around when the economy was good, they are around now. So what's different?

The economy.

Several people have canceled their reoccurring donations.... their reason has been that money is tight, not any of the reasons listed in that thread.

Not to trivialize anything the people have said in that thread, but the vast majority of lapsed members barely know what the internet is. So to say that is the definitive list of reasons why people arent renewing is silly.

Mike you are trivializing that thread by disregarding the comments there and refusing to accept that the decreased support is caused by u4wda's actions or lack of actions.

You can say it's the economy or...

That u4wda hasn't organized a service project in a year with no plans to do one anytime soon.

That membership renewal notices and fulfillment go out much less timely than they did two years ago.

That content in the magazine has shifted away from land use in the last year.

It's a disservice to u4 to blame external conditions on problems rather than consider that internal factors have contributed to the 30-40% loss of membership in the last year.

I re-upped mid April. I sent in a small extra donation. I still haven't received my new membership card.

Not trying to be critical and I realize it's a volunteer effort.......just sayin'.......since you haven't sent it yet...... maybe throw in a sticker.

I do think the organization itself has to try to keep it positive and we should all work together and all that........ but real world...... just gotta keep fighting through the punches.

Teddy Roosevelt has a pretty good quote about those who point out where the doer of deeds could have done them better.

Some that are critical here..... have been the doer of those same deeds themselves. When they were..... were they criticized like they now criticize?

We ourselves are sometimes our adversaries wet dream......SUWA would love to read these threads.

SUWA does read these threads, but they've already got much better ammunition (photos of irresponsible users and resource damage for example).

Maybe some comments are critical, but how do we make things better if we accept the status quo or blame external forces for every problem? U4WDA has been and continues to be a great org with some great people worth supporting.
