2024 Bag Night Challenge

I haven't been keeping track and wasn't really expecting to get out much this year. But my wife and daughter informed me that I had 13 bag nights in April. This was in the context of me informing them of the ten nights I know so far I'll be gone in May.

Makes me nervous knowing that they are keeping score like that...

I am at 15 so far for the year and a little behind for my 60 night stretch goal. I will get several in June and July, but need to come up with some in May.

April killed me unless sleeping in my bag at the Moab KOA counts 😂. Super busy month and May isn’t looking much better which sucks because they’re two great desert months.

Five nights in July on a backpacking trip to Colorado.

Still not keeping track. But I've been out a good bit more than I was expecting. Backpacking trip to fish in the Uintas with my daughter next weekend. Gold prospecting trip in three weeks. I'm pretty happy with whatever my bag nights are this year.

When coyote hunting kicks in next month I'll start really piling up the bag nights. 2024 Might end up pretty good.

I got 1 night last weekend in Ophir with some young men. There was 18-24" of snow and I forgot the bin with all the utensils and cooking stuff so I had to do a run into Tooele for supplies. It was 18° when I got back to camp at 9:30 pm. The camp fire kept us warm. It was a good night.

April, another night with YM at ophir. Took my boys as well.

June, two night at a friend's property in manorlands by Christmas meadows.

Another night off mirror lake highway.

July, Clyde lake backpacking with YM and the rest of Northern Utah. Got rained out for the second night. 😒 I was still dry and didn't want to leave...

Three nights at Washington Lake with my family.

Total: 9. This is actually a decent year considering the past few.

I am sitting at 38 nights right now with 4 being last week. Good times with good people so far!

I haven’t been keeping track of numbers or anything but I challenged myself last year in August to go camping at least once a month for an entire year. Was doing great until this July where I didn’t get to go out once haha dang. Still pretty good I think for me anyway 😎
