Hey Greg, how far away from the start/end of the trail is this meeting place? Mine and Jinx' rigs aren't exactly street legal or freeway worthy. 21 Road is in Grand Junction, not Fruita, right? Just want to make sure we can get to the trailhead and back without a hassle. We're definitely in for Friday and Saturday!!

Street legal in CO is very diffrent than street legal in UT. :greg: I'd bet you're both just fine as far as legality is concerned. Wally drives his YJ everywhere in Grand Junction on full width axles & 42's & I don't believe he's been hassled.

But to answer your question, if you bring your trailer to the trail head of both trails, you'll have nothing to worry about. 21 Road can be done in & back out, or we can go out the top and drive back to the trailers. That will require a few miles on dirt roads & a few on paved, but in rural Fruita.

Billings Canyon has a parking area where you'll unload the rigs, drive less than a mile on paved road, just over a mile to the trailhead & up the trail. The trail exits at the parking area.

Does that answer your questions? Anything else I have left out?

Sounds good Greg. Thanks for the info. Just wanted to make sure that there is trailer parking at the trailheads or at least make sure that we didn't have to drive too far on the paved roads, since 45-50 mph is my top speed.

I have a trailer queen, and an alergy to pavement.

Fruita is about at 17-18 road so 21 road is just a few miles towards Junction. You could stay at either place. The spot Greg picked to meet is super easy to find and big enough for trailers. From there we can drive (trailer) to the trail head and unload.
Have we picked a spot to meet on Saturday? Jeff

Welding is done, just need to finish mounting the seats.

Is anyone else excited for this trip? :D

Excited? Yeah...maybe A LOT!!!! I've been wanting to run 21 Road for 5-7 years now it seems like. Billings looks like a blast too!

Most definitely! Lemon Joy is bathed and sucked out with a fresh coat of krylon. My truck is getting a new brake controller tonight so no uncontrollable careening down Red Mountain Pass for this family! I bought the spare hubs yesterday and the spare shafts are in the garage waiting to be stowed somewhere. And only 49 hours till departure time! :D

I figure that t minus 13 hours and 18 minutes is a pretty good time to say that you all suck and that I hate you all.

hmmm should I try to convince the Utah boys that they are in a different time zone?
