Its all relative... I bet that Lambi was in a safer position than I was doing 100mph in my FJ40 with the TT in tow coming down Parley's. Yes, I have witnesses ;)

You guys are aware that there is a TON of slop on factory speedos, right?

I'll take radar-verified speeds over seat-of-the-pants, buried-needle stories any time. :D

My fastest was known distance over measured time :p

Others are GPS verified.

O RLY?

154 MPH in a non-turbo RS Mitsubushi Eclipse. .

Eclipse RS & GS: Base model equipped with a 150 hp 2.4 L 16-valve SOHC Mitsubishi 4G64
As a stock Eclipse it has a top speed of about 120 MPH. After some upgrades I can take it to about 130 MPH. Not bad for a non-turbo 4 cyl.

140 in my 06 GLI on Bangerter on a early Sunday morning. Bad Joe. Not doing that again with lame tires. My kids miss my 90 Corrado, my fast car. Gotta learn how to back off that skinny pedal.

An Environmental Protection Agency fuel economy rating of 32 Highway/25 City and an electronically limited top speed of 130 mph confirm that power and economy can come in one package.

I remain dubious. 120+ is fast for most stock vehicles.

I've never heard that, but I have no reason to think it isn't true. Might explain why I only got to 145 in the Audi. It was supposed to have a governor at 155, and I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't go faster than 145. When I dropped it off I was talking about hauling arse. The owner said they had taken it up to 175. I knew they were full of shite because of the governor.

Driving 145 on open roads wasn't that scary. Busting through the Three Sisters Wilderness in Oregon taking turns at 100+ was a little scary. One blown tire, and I would've been dead.

Yup, I saw a tv program that put a Hennessey Viper up against a bunch of European sports cars. According to all of the Euro car's speedos they all had a higher top speed than the Viper, yet the Viper spanked everyone of them.

What'd that cost for the ticket and then what'd it cost for your insurance?

Oh, I didn't get caught.

I learned the HARD way, coming back home, a semi's headwind blew me into the median. I was only doing 130 when I went by him, but the crosswind was more than I could compensate for. It ended with a Superman-style face slide with my bike sliding next to me for about 250 feet before coming to a stop. Aside from the bike being completely full of saltflat mud and a slightly bent front wheel, we were both fine. I fully attribute the whole deal to rider error, and a more experienced rider would have not been effected. Oh well, that's a helluva good lesson to able to walk away from.:)

Did 140 in my old Porsche a couple of times. Long straight a way, no one in sight, no danger to anyone else. Got a ticket in it doing 120 just outside of Reno.

thats gay. if you kill me, I will come back in haunt all of you.

I did get my first ZJ up to 110 mph once on a straight away on the most desolate road in Idaho (somewhere on the way to some town that had the first nuclear power plant). I've had a couple bikes and cars up to a little over 100 before.

oh, the worst was when i was towing to phoenix in my dodge. I was crusing at 90 ish on the speedo (with buggy in tow) and turned on a GPS to find out I was doing about 100. 2 lane highway at night. Probably not safe. at least the only other casualty would have been Brett and nobody would have missed him.
