it wont run without the tube from the TB to the AFM,even with starting fluid.
make sure your distributor isnt 180 deg out
make sure your valve timing is correct and the guides are not broken.

even though it may be an analog system, some parts are still computerized , and it still needs the afm hooked up,among other things; somewhat like the computerized carburated systems.

Dizzy is on,chain and guide's look in good shape and I'm pretty sure the timing is also right on.
Bottom end is on 0*TDC,piston is up.cam dowel pin 12:00,dot on timing chain sprocket is at 11:30ish,rotor is dead on with#1 on cap.It doesn't want to even fire and the tube has been on everytime and tight.

compression test ?

you have fuel (starting fluid)
you have spark , at the correct time (hopefully not orange spark, should be blue to white), verify with a timing light ~8 deg bdc with vacuum hooked up.also check for bad wires, cap and rotor.aftermarket caps dont always seat right, damaging the cap and rotor.(gp sorenson namely).
compression is left;if low check valve clearances also could be a severely (totally) clogged exhaust .ive not seen this on a truck ,usually it runs ,but poorly.

is there a chance that you bent a couple valves, you never said why you were changing the timing chain, did it break or streach? a compression check would be a good Idea. Just to make sure.

I pulled the engine due to a rod that was on it's way to china,I'm suprised it didn't go while getting it in the garage.Anyhow put in a 22r I had stashed.I changed the head because the one that was on it would'nt accept the EFI manifold...That's where I'm at...
I set the valve's cold at .009 in and .013exh,should be good till it get's warmed up and I can set them at spec.
Spark is blue/white-took plug out turned over engine seen spark.
Fuel-gas in tank along with a squirt or two of starting fluid.
Timing-I'll have to break out the timing light just to make sure.
Cap-wire's-rotor-good came off my runner and it run like a top.
Exhaust is fairly new by looking.
Compression,I guess i'll have to check that, maybe the HG didn't take or something.
The head I used looked in good shape no ding's or nothing to the valve's and I never turned the engine over accidently while putting chain and all on.
I'm thinking either the timing is off or not much compression.
