30amp breaker for Handler 187

So my buddy at work said a 30 amp breaker is NOT going to be enough for the Handler 187 welder.

Is this true?

I hear a ton on here that a 30 amp dryer plug is fine.

Yes your right, that's what the name plate on the equipment is for.
could you imagine if they said FLA was 20.5 and it really pulled 35 amps....
you would have allot of pissed customers that didn't run a large enough circuit.

Maybe your buddy doesnt realize it's a 230v welder? if the voltage is doubled the current is halfed for the same wattage. Maybe his 30amp breaker is worn out and trips easily.

But remember that's 20.3A @ 230V. So at 220v or 208v it might be more. But a 30A breaker should be plenty.

You also have to remember that's at full output continuously.....
