The first pic is 8.8 ford explorer axle. I am wondering if the stamp on the pinion gear is reading 373? I can't see anything stamped on the ring gear.

The second is off a dana 30. is the stamp also reading 373? could anybody let me know if I am reading them correctly?

I believe those are 3:73 markings.. I would just do a rotate the pinion and count the rotations of the ring gear to make sure you know what you have :)

on the 8.8 I would count the teeth, then divide the ring count by the pinion count. (ring/pinion) since you have the cover off anyways.

on the 30, I can't make any thing out....

Looks to be 3.73 on the 8.8, but Ive never seen the ratio on the pinion like that.

On the dana 30, in the lower row of writing, left side, peeking from under the bolt...
(bottom right of the tag in the photo)
Is that a 3.55? From the pic thats my guess.

Jinx nailed it, count the teeth and don't guess.

If the 8.8 has 11 teeth on the pinion (hard to tell from the pic), it should have 41 teeth on the ring if it's a 3.73.
