I think a 9" is no comparison to a 8.8...and I will garauntee you will not pay $400 for a 9" unless it already is built up...yes early beroncos are prolly your closest but they are like 58" wide...that is what I used in my YJ and it was fine...I wish it was just a little wider but it worked...spacers would have fixed my problem...be sure to get a big bearing and 31 spline if possible...IMO the spline count isn;t as important as the big bearing...check out the other thread about Ford 9"...bobdog just posted some useful info...

No 31 splines in Early Broncos, if you want 31 spline from the Factory your going to have to get a fullsize and chop it down. Early Bronco 9" are fairly easy to come by, if you can find one you may want to pick up the D44 as well, but theyre pretty expensive, rare, and people grab them quick.
