My runner's finally going to get some lift and the 35's this spring upon my return. My question is- What would be a better gear set 4.88's or 5.29's? I've heard some people say 5.29's are weak due to a small pinion. Is this true? I figure a few of you guys should have some input on this. Don't have the money for it yet but uncle sam is cutting me a check soon, so i need ti figure out what I want on my goodies list. Thanx

Here's the run-down... 5.71's are EVIL no matter the quality or brand. 5.29's are perfect for 35's on the road (with 36's or 37's, it's still OK). 4.88's are fine if you have the Toy V6 (but I'd still recommend the 5.29's). Or, the 4.88's would be great if you had a Chevy 4.3.

Bottom line is this: Get 5.29's but DO NOT get Genuine Gear brand!!! They will break. I don't care if they have a lifetime replacement warranty. You will no doubt spend a lifetime replacing them. ;) Yukon Gear 5.29's are the way to go.

Yep, what he said.

My 5.29's are perfect with 35's & 37's. Sadly, the PO bought his gears thru 4WPW and they screwed up the install and I paid for it. I bought another set, Yukons this time, actually from RockLogic.

Cool I was wanting to go with the, just wasn't sure about strength. I didn't really want to go with 4.88's as i won't have a doubler kit for awhile yet (possibly next tax time). My next question would be- what would they cost through rocklogic for a set of yukon's? Thanx for the info.
