So, now that I have acquired JK Rubicon its time to start the build up. The first big decision is what size of lift. I have always been a big fan of Teraflex, but what size?? I am leaning towards the 4” LCG Long arm w/ Speedbumps and Elka shocks. But, to go with the 4 or 6 inch is the question? I know the 6” gives me a little more clearance and running 40” tires. Thoughts??

It depends on whether you are going to run flat flares.

It also depends on what kind of driving and wheeling you do.

Steep and off camber = advantage 4" with flat flares.

My wife's is on 37s on a Teraflex long arm with Off Road Evolution coilovers that equate to about a 6" lift.

Mine is on 40s with a 3.5" short arm, flat flares, and a 1" body lift.

Not sure I will run 40" as a daily driver, but for wheelin - for sure. I have been checking out the Trailmods (removeable fenders). Chris Burton is running them and like them.

I just purchased Poison Spyder front and rear Rock Brawlers. PS also make a nice flat flare.
Planman - Nice JK's!

My advice is to just stop in at tera and look at some of the JK's they have there. I know they have a 6" on 38.5's, a 4" on 37's and a 3" on 37's. Kinda gives you an idea what your looking for. When we built the "general" dennis woods first JK on 40's, we put a 6" lift on it and it would rub pretty bad when it got close to full stuff. If rubbing isn't that big of a deal, your not affraid to trim and depending what 40's your running, it would be close with a 4" even with flat flares, cause the tires get into the body, not the flares. We have built one on a 4" w/ 40's, but we limited up travel

Just my .02

Thanks Bob and Joe. I have been working with Sam and Ben at your shop. I am bringing my JK in on Thursday. Would be great tomeet you both if your around Thursday. Ben mentioned that he ran 37 under the 4" left on the red JK he just sold. I feel that the 4" is going to give me everything I need. Teraflex makes an outstanding product.

Question for all - What tires are you running? Size? And how do you like them. I am looking for tires that are good for the road as well as the rocks.

Just dropped the JK at Teraflex this morning. After much discussion with Ben at Tera, looks like were going with the 6" Long Arm lift with speedbumps, and Elka shocks. The other big decision was the tires. After seen the 38" on Papa Smurf (see the pictures above) I couldnt pass them up. Now just waiting for the front and rear bumpers from Poison Spyder to come in. Will be posting pic's next week.
