4 Runner Saggy Bum

I know very little about Yota's except that they are reliable as hell. I am a Jeep guy...

That being said, my Pops has a 1994 4 Runner that is completely bone stock. He has been the only owner and has taken very good care of it. Over the years the rear of the Runner has started to sag more and more. He asked me what are his options to lift the back end to match the height of the front and not sacrifice the ride. My response was simple "to ask the guys on RME".

I told him to expect to see answers that might cost him $10 to $500 and everything in between if there is a way to remedy it.

Anyone else have the same issue and what did you do?

pretty common for those 2nd gen runners to sag in the back.

There are a couple fixes:

1.5-2" spacer
new springs

From another thread I found"

"I have a 93 4-Runner and i bought a set of springs from ARB. They have 3 different sets stock, 0-gvw lbs &1.5", and 0-330 lbs&2" I have the mid range set OME 900 (i wanted heavy duty but its my wifes daily driverso she wanted the softer ride) any ways i aame very happy with the new springs. I have hade them on for a year now and woulnt change a thing. You can order them from your local 4X4 store they might be called "old man emu" you can look on line to see what i am talking about"

Cruiseroutfitter on here sells those. I highly recommend them.

One more thing... yotas are extremely reliable... except for the 3.0 v6, which often has headgasket problems. If the headgasket has been replaced with a good one, it should be good for a LONG time.

Thanks Steve!

I figured those would be the options I would see. Any idea on the cost difference between some spacers and new springs? If he chooses to go the spacer route which I image would be the lower cost way to go, where is a good place to look?

A lot of guys like 4crawler products. I'm pretty biased against them after helping a buddy install a 1" body lift. It was missing parts, cheesy, and the instructions were terrible. But, like I said, others love his stuff.

At that price (~$125), I'd pay just a little bit more and get the right springs from Kurt at Cruiseroutfitters. Plus they'll give a better ride on and off road. I love my OME coils.

Now remember, if you get the OME coils that are meant for 2" lift, it'll actually end up being about 4" taller than you are right now (since your springs sagged 2" already). So I'd probably recommend the 0" lift springs, assuming he wants to keep it stock height.

You can buy a set of Old Man Emu coils keep it level and have a soft ride. If you want to just add a spacer, I have a set of 2" aluminum spacers custom built for your coils for $60.
