Mabey one day I will recruit you to help me edit my video.. is Imovie just a mac program (that is what you guys have at your house right?) or do you use your fathers laptop?

The biggest hurdle in my videos... they are all 8mm... I need to find someone that can covert them to digital to make it far easier to work with.:(

Hear ya man! We had to find a digital camera that could convert my 8mm(the Moab video) into digital. We borrowed East High's new Digital camera. Tell us when and we could probably get it, and edit some cool films for ya. For a price.:D

I'm down... Now tell me this, I don't know tons about dig. video...is it possible to burn all of the stuff off of my 8mm onto a CD for later use? How much video will fit on a CD?

No, you have to run the 8mm into a digital, then into the computer. From there it can go anywhere. What's with this party? When and Where? BBQ fo sho!

Oh you mean I can't put a CD into my video camera and press record...

I knew that, I was just wondering how feasible it was to put 10+ hours worth of different wheelin' trips on CD...:D

I don't know computers and sizes of files and crap like that. Wort is somewhat a nerd like that, he might know how much you could put on a CD. I can tell you right now it wouldn't be alot.

Mabey I need to burn all my stuff to DVD? Seems like they would hold alot more video than a CD...? I guess when I get closer to converting, I will make some calls, ask some questions, and listen...:D

you could get a video capture card for the pc, like the ati all-in-wonder for about $100. run the 8mm cam into it. another way would be to hook it up to a TiVo and just rip the video from there.

A cd willhold about an hour worth of video depending on quality (VCD) and wil play on most dvd players.

Thanks dude, so it looks like I need to edit down my videos a little bit before even burning them on CD...;)

the vid he posted is 11.4 MB and 3.5 min. A CD will hold 700 MB seems like you should easily get three hours, (3.25 MB/min 700/3.25=215 min) unless you write to the CD in a non quicktime format??

If I had a cam I wouldnt mind running it through the TiVo to do the converting. think i have about 20hrs worth of space left on it. No editing tools tho.
