40" Kevlars are LARGE. Just in case you were wondering.

I went from 23 1/4" frame height with the 37" Creepys to 26 1/2".

There will need to be some reworking on my rig to make things work out.

Where did ya score those?
I was drooling over those in a 42" variety at the last race.
How do they work?

This is how a jeep should look! I am really digging the new rubbers. Will you give us a report on how well they work? I really enjoyed you last tire report you gave me.

They're big enough I don't think I can run them off road. I'm going to go check that out right now, though. I've liked them a lot in the 3-4 miles I've put on them, but it's REALLY changed my Jeep. Not for the better. It needs to be quite a bit lower.

Wondering if anyone has a measurement on a 39" Krawler or a 40" MTR? I really need to lose about 2" of actual tire height.

You know............................. I am pretty good with a sawzall and I will bet that I can make them fit. I have fit larger tires on vehicles with less lift. Just think about it, no new suspension modifications, larger tires, it is just meant to be.

I think it looks really good Marc... that rear wheelwell looks about perfect. Time for a set of custom Alcan springs for the front? May be the same $$ as linking it up, but there's no fab work involved. Offset the center pin by a couple inches to bring the axle forward, if the steering will allow the move.

You've seen my fenders, right? I don't mind a sawzall. I do want to keep it street legalish and it's not even close now. It'd take a LOT of work to make it that way and I just don't have time or inclination to make it work.

I'd link it if I had time (I'm sure I have most of the parts if not all?) The rear needs about 2" of trimming. The front needs at least 6" or so? I just got back from a local construction site. It was totally incapable and bound up every time I turned around.

I really like the tires. Some in a 37" flavor would work great. They are smooth on the highway and from what I saw of them on Rusty Nail on Jeff's rig, they do pretty good if not well off-highway.

Do you mean because of the tire size they were rubbing on the body, or do they make contact with the frame? That really is too bad because it just looks right sitting there in front of the gas pump.

I'm not sure if the frame is in the way or not but it doesn't really matter. I'm still wanting my Jeep street legal and I'd have to cut a BUNCH of sheetmetal away to do it. Then I'd have to reconstruct it in a "Jeepish" way. I just don't have the resources to do a big build right now or in the near future. I'd also have to lower the frame height to be street legal and keep my center of gravity where I want it. The time just isn't in the cards at the moment. (I've got some kewlish body mods I've been trying to get done for MONTHS now, but haven't even gotten those taken care of. A suspension build would be worse)

The front is the biggest problem. I want to keep a steering box and that means I've only got about 1-1.5" I can't move the axle far enough forward without redoing how the steering box mounts on the frame. That's not even close to enough to make the tires work out with my current configuration.

I'll just be a lot happier with everything if I move down in tire size to a 37" Krawler (blue label) or a set of 37" MTRs. I won't have to spend a bunch of build time/cash to get it done either. :D Something with actual measurements between 36-38" when mounted on the rig. The last two inches are kind of the killer for the MTRs.

These 40" tires would be awesome on a full size, though.

I just dug up a picture of my Jeep parked next to Greg's with 40" Creepy Crawlers. I'd estimate these Kevlars at least 1-2" bigger than the 40" Creepys, but I don't really know as I don't have one handy. I'd need a BUNCH of work to make my leaf sprung rig (that I already want lower) run these tires with enough room to clear them.

I'd pretty much have to duplicate Greg's build to do it right.
