40" LTB is out of the question right now as per this post:
http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=901868

So what I'm looking at now is either Maxxis or Pitbull. We'll see what happens.

Last year i was considering the 43" SX and phoned interco with a few questions about tire compound. The rep told me that the bogger, SX, and IROK are made in the same plant using the same rubber compound. Since IROKs and boggers spin like a kids bigwheel on asphalt, i moved on to something designed in the 21st century. I ran nothing but M&H DOT slicks on my mustangs, but wont be placing any swamper on the jeep.

good to hear you are thinking about the pitbulls. now if i can convince you to step up to 42s:D

Interesting about the LTB's. I was under the impression I could still order them because they are not made by Denman tire. I will look into it at work tomorrow.

You don't need to worry about 20% off, (especially since its up to 20% off on certain items) you get the "I know Bear so I'm a bada$$" discount.

It sounds like Trepadors are out of your top list, but from what i've seen of the set that we've run on Robby's 4runner for desert racing and rock crawling, they've really kicked some ass. Those ones are non-sticly 37"s on 17"s.

In terms of Pitbull Rockers, I've heard if you want a true 40" tall tire, then buy a 42".

That'll be my next tire.

agree

IMHO are pitbulls like a blind date, they show up shorter and wider than expected.

Rockers...YES. Maddogs.....not at all.

Maddogs run tall and skinny. I think they are great tire. true, they may not have the look of the rocker, but the perform flawlessly! last year at EJS, we had a friend from vegas that drove his toy pickup from vegas to moab, wheeled hard on the maddogs and drove home.....they walked up everything we pointed them at. I have been amazed everytime I wheel with someone that had the maddog.

The ptbulls are made for a wide rim, the 15 inch wide 42's are setup for a 12-14 rim it says. Billavista runs his on 8.25 wide and they measured in at 41.5 inches tall, thats a pretty true height for a 42 inch tire

True, a wider rim will make the overall height of the tire shorter, probably why billa's tires measure up. there are other posts that show the 39" measuring in at less than 38"-_-

i would be running a set of 42" rockers if they weren't so wide. FYI, the 42x14.50 MTR measures in at 42.25 with 20psi on a 10" rim. the treadblock width however is only 11.5"

We put 39x14.50x17 bias Maddogs on the new rig we just built. Mounted on 17x9.5 Allied beadlocks, the measure exactly 38" tall at 20 psi. That's mounted on the vehicle with full weight on the tires.
