I know this question has been asked about 9.2 million times but please briefly tell us what the 44044 is all about,

optimum spring length?

great flex properties?

great spring curve?

optimum amount of life?

even spring rate throughout flex?

:D

3 Months! What was the cause of this? Just the average 4WPW service?

44044's have a good reputation, that is for sure.

I ordered them and was told they were special order.... No biggie. Shipping was to take 2 weeks, at this point I had a Moab trip about 3 weeks out. I'm thinking I'll have the springs by then and be flexin' the frontend out in Moab.

I go to 4WPW to pick up my springs a couple days after the arrival date and before Moab..... "Ummmm, they are on back-order....." Great! Would it be so hard to tell the customer that, when they ORDER THE PARTS??!!?? So, after all this time, Rancho must have built them from scratch and sent them to 4WPW.

I can understand Backorders..... but my Issue is with telling the customer.... Don't wait to tell them about the Backorder untill they have already PAID and when they are there to pick up their parts!!!

I keep hearing all the rage about these springs. I also hear that taking out the 3rd leaf from the bottom will flex the springs out a lot better and soften up the ride. Dunno about losing any ride height though?

Greg, what are the eye to eye measurements on those springs? I haven't heard anything about running them on an XJ, probably wouldn't work, but I'm curious. Any input?

I'm going to run all the leafs and see how they do.... If I want more flex, I may tear into the pack and pull a leaf. We'll see!

Jason, this should help-

These are 2" longer than YJ springs, measuring in at 44" with a 2" offset center pin (Don't XJ's have a offset pin?).

Greg, thats awesome, thanks for that pic. Might go out and make some measurements tomorrow.:D :D

As for the offset pin, I'm not sure what is meant by the "offset" term, the XJ leafs have an alignment pin that sets the springs in line with the spring pearches. Its a .5" in diameter and is centered in the middle of the leafs (width). Dunno about where its positioned length wise on the leaf. Anybody know?

Ahh, nevermind about the offset comment. I see exactly what it means. I'll do some measuring tomorrow.

I think XJ's are offset by 3", with the short side being the front of the leaf.

Also, I think I heard the 44044's are about 230#'s, not sure though......

you will like the springs. What are you doing with the stock jeep springs? What are you doing about x-over and spring perches? Throw me the pix of your yj springs again? I am gathering parts for a sas on the runner someday this winter.

Wait a minute Greg your photo is throwing me off. I was led to believe that:

Part, overall length, one half, other half, width, original config.

Jeep YJ Front or Rear 45" 22.5" 22.5" 2.50" SUA
Rancho 4404447" 22.5" 24.5" 2.50" SUA
Dakota 54" 22" 32" 2.50" SUA
F-150 2.5" wide 57" 25.0" 32.0" 2.5" / 3.0" SOA
89-95 Toy Rear 51" 21.5" 29.5" 2.36" SOA
80-88 Toy rear 48" 20.5" 27.5" 2.36" SOA

First, you said that they are 44" long. But I think you mean that that is the arched length, the flat length being 47" as stated above (?)

Second: Are you sure that the springs are oriented in the correct direction? For some reason I thought that the longer half of the spring (due to it's offset pin) was the front half of the spring, i.e., on the jeep that it was intended for, the longer half of the spring is from the axle to the front shackle near the bumper.

Third: How many leaves are in the packs? It looks like six but the photo is fuzzy. And I assume those are 44044 front springs, not rear.

Thanks, EZ

EZ-

You're right.... I mis-typed the #.... 47".

I don't know which direction the leafs would point on the original vehicle, a Waggy, since I don't own one. I plan to put the short end of the Spring Pack up front, for more approach angle.

And, again, you see right. 6 Leafs.

Skyetone-

I actually have the current YJ leafs promised to someone else, sorry!

I have highsteer and the perches are currently drilled out for 2.5" more WB. I may have to center them and allow the offset centerpin to add that, instead.
