I came across this in the scrap pile at goodyear tire and one of the mechanics told me it was off a late model 4-runner and it had the e-locker. Can anybody confirm this with these pics? Also took a pic of the axle shaft, why does it have the gear just inside the axle?

Cool I was hopin it was, the mechanic said it was 4.10 and yes I will sell it. I'm not sure what its worth but I'll definately make you a good deal. I've also got both axle shafts with brakes but the housing was bent on the drivers side. I can't see anything wrong with the axle but who knows?

if its 4.10s wana sell it

Thanks alot for your expertise. So what does the tone ring do or is it just part of the ABS to make it work?

There is a corresponding ABS pickup sensor on the housing, it can read how fast that axle shaft is spinning, basically like a speedometer but at each wheel.

if its a late model 4runner axle from the factory it should have 4.30's unless it was some random set up or 4cyl. but the 4cyl can even come with 4.56's i think... not 100 percent sure. but i would try and find out instead of just taking the guys word. not all toyotas came with 4.10s like they used to. btw i love my 4.30's :)

I don't know about Toy gears, but Dana gears are stamped with the tooth count (pinion and ring gear) so it's pretty easy to do the math and figure it out. You should just spin it and see if the ring gear is stamped with the numbers. That way you'll know for sure what you have.

All E Locker drop outs were V6, to my knowledge... And yea, the ring gear should have some markings on it that would lead you to it's ratio....

Ok it either says, 43 or 4.3 also had a 2 on the other side of the ring gear. Anybody know what that means?

Also, does anybody know what axles this will fit in? Will it fit an 1985 rear axle? Any mods that are required?

No clue about the numbers - might be 4.30:1?

I believe it will fit any Toy 8" axle housing. But for some reason, I'm thinking there needs some relief grinds to make it fit on some?
