was wondering if anyone would have information regarding an ARB with a spacer lift

would this be a bad idea im planning a 3" lift with 33's

i dont want to get it on there and not be able to get 33's if that would be the case i would have to sell it. and have someone fab a tube bumper

Sag? problems? failures?

With stock rims the largest tire that will clear the UCA (upper control arm) is a 285/75/16.

Anything larger will rub the arm. A 255/85/16 is a great size...tall and narrow. It's only available from a few manufactures.

A spacer lift is a good way to shove larger rubber under your 4Runner, that's about it...no additional travel, it's only pushing the frame up off the springs a bit further.

The heavier ARB bumper will cause the front end to bob over whoops and crappy roads with the stock coils preloaded with spacers. The stock suspension simply cant damp the increased weight.

It will look cool though.

Hit up cruiseroutfit on here for ARB and Old Man Emu products.

Any spring lift over 3" will eat CV's otherwise YES, 33's will fit with an ARB bumper and a 3" lift.

What kit are you looking at?

well im looking at
3" kit at toyteclifts.com which is spacers up front and with the ome 890's for the rear, by 33's i meant equivelants in the 16" rim size so 285s are like 32.7 or something i for get but i didnt want to write that all out.

think this set up would be good or think the one with new front coils would be better?

i know by saying its a medium weight, it means its 300# on the coil at all times i dont think an arb is that much so stay with light ones?

If you've got the cash I'd just buy the complete OME kit and be done for good. I would recommend the 891's for the rear if you tow, even occasionally and to allow for some settling. I try to buy/build for future needs so I'd get the heavier setup.

If you are going to wheel often I'd say skip the bumper and use the $$$ for the OME kit, if you want to look good and stick to the street get the bumper and tires with the spacers. I'm not saying you can't have a good time on the trail with the ToyTec kit but you will eventually want to upgrade and you'll be money ahead with the OME setup.

Do you plan to run a winch?

I hope you don't need a stock bumper, I just scrapped a cherry one from my '97.

by complete do you mean new coils front and rear? should i do medium in front and light in the rear i dont plan on towing anything, i towed a car from here to texas. never again. haha or do you recommend mediums all around?

i wanted an arb cause my stock bumper is like tin foil, it wouldnt hold up if a chiuaua jumped in the air and me hit it id probably need a new radiatior after that lol.

and for the winch im debating, it seems to be a great tool to have in most situations, and not put a toll on your trucks drivetrain just the winch when helping fellow off roaders

Get the HD OME front coils/shocks for your model 4runner... Then source some stock Toyota FZJ80 coils, and instal them in the rear of your 4runner. :)

You will fit 33's just fine. Paul R runs 255/85/16's(33x10.5) w/ MD OME lift and ARB bumper up front... His looks great!

I run the same lift (OME 882's & OME 890's) and 285/75/16's with the plastic portion of the front bumper removed... I'm still wrestling over an ARB bumper...

I get minor rubbage on the Upper Control Arm, but it's not a big deal at all... I'll upgrade to 255/85/16 Bighorns when I save up a few more bills..

FYI... TJM is also a decent bumper.. Less $$ than an ARB, but the ARB does provide better safety for occupants(Air bag compliant)

i saw that tjm no longer offered to N. america... but are you sure you i should get the HD? or should i get Medium? HD seems a little overkill and sounds like a stiff ride and am i wanting to get new shocks as well they look newer than normal im not the original owner only had it for 10months, theres red shocks all around

I'd do HD if your have a big bullbar and a winch up front.. You'd be fine with the MD's.. that's what i've got.

Another vote for OME. A couple of guys I know (both work at Kirkham's Outdoor) have the OME kits on their 4 runners. Awesome setups. You can't go wrong. You can most likely see one of their trucks out front during the week...one is green and one is silver with a TJM bumper on front.
