..I was wearing my jacket towards the top of Poughkeepsie, on July 4th!!

I got caught in a severe downpoor on the 4th, temp went from 90 to 40 in minutes.... I was on a quad in a t-shirt

Come on down, seriously... I'm off every other weekend, let me know what works for you & I'd be gald to show you the area. But plan on taking 3-4 days for the trip, this is an area you don't want to rush thru.

Thanks for the complements on the bumper, it's home-built. I finally got to put that winch on a rig! ( I think I've had it for over 3 yrs now. ) Along with the winch, I mounted a set of IPF lights I got from Kurt (which kickass!) and the clevis mounts from Rocklogic to tie it all in.

Thanks... Yeah, high elevations can cause funny things to happen, very quickly. I've seen some crazy storms up AFC, I was up there once during a microburst that came out of no where. 3" of hail built up in less than 30 min & they actually closed off the canyon due to the downed trees & rocks that were knocked into the road.

August? I'm going there Aug. 6-12. I'll probably have to take the family SUV again though. My jeep is getting new gears and won't be broken in by then.

I've been wanting to get down there for quite a while but it's looking doubtful for this year. I plan on doing some of those high mountain passes around that area next year. Great pics.

You'll be fine in the family rig. With the exception of Black Bear Pass and Poughkeepsie, we've taken our full size trucks all over without any problems. Well, there have been a few 18 point turn arounds on some of the random roads that suddenly dead end, but other than that....
