Also, I'd like to find a place to take my dad away from folks more, but his knees are pretty shot and is waiting a while to get knee replacement, I'll check the area out first but anywhere that's relatively easy to park, camp, and fish? I know, a lot of requirements.

All doable, you can park less than 200 yards from most of the lakes, and unless you hike to the upper lakes it's mostly flat.

I am headed up to Washington Lake CG over the 4th with my mom and a few brothers probably. We have gone up for opening week the last four or five years and have had a great time. The only time we have started up the Murdock road we were in a 2010 Tundra. It was slow go-ing and we ended up turning around after a bit because it was getting over grown and my dad didn't want pin striping. I'm going to head up in my JK though and hopefully catch all the fish. My little bro is in a fly fishing class at BYU this summer and I'm sure is going to try and out fish me like he does every other year. I can't let that happen though. If it gets to it I'll have to play dirty and send my dog over to him to scare all the fish away.

Fly fishing is pretty tough in a lot of those spots in Murdock. Too many trees. Catch more fish with spin tackle anyway. I usually don't bother to bring a pole for myself, kids catch more than we can eat and I'm usually too busy helping my daughter take fish off her hook to fish myself.

Wow Dave, unless you're using some trick photography those are even pretty decent size fish for the Uintahs.

These are some little bit nicer Uintas brookies.

If you want to catch big fish up there though, go where the tiger trout have been planted.

I was curious over Memorial day and drove up Mirror Lake highway, Went up to Butterfly lake and it was still frozen over with about 3 feet of snow by the road. I saw the Murdock road but didn't want to drive down it with the snow around.

We usually stay and hike near Trial/Washington (cliff, watson, clyde, lovenia) but it appears that I need to go up Murdock to catch some real fish.

I went up yesterday with my Scrambler and busted drifts all the way to the turnoff to Hoover Lake. I fished the lake shown in DAA's picture and brought home some nice eaters.
