ya thats some bull, but honestly 95% of those beer cans were probably from 4wheelers and bikes, not trucks... at the same time tho, people are drinking and driving and dont want an open container in the rig so they throw them out... they wont think its nothin tell they close the trail...

Come on now brother. Thats not cool. There are irresponsible people out there in every type vehicle. Who are we to say it is 95% one or the other? I don't even have room for a can of beer on my bike. I have personally handed beer cans to morons drinking and tossing them in the back of their beat up truck only to fall out behind them for me to pick up. The point is morons drive any sort of vehicle. The part that sucks is they ruin it for all so we all need to stick together and fix it ya know? Bikes, 4x4ers, atvers, etc.

I always keep trash bags in my Xj to put my trash in and pick up some I run across when wheeling. I have noticed in the past year I've wheeled at 5 mile that the amount of litter has increased. Which is not a good thing at all

This is starting to piss me OFF it's like beating a dead horse

OK OK OK already we get it there are ASSHATS out there who litter. I have been picking up after these ASSHATS for probably about 36 years. Quit bitching about it and PICK IT UP. I don't care who did it or what they drive, maybe the next time you see someone litter you should knock them on their ass. If everyone did this there would be less litter. You don't need a trail clean-up to pick up litter. A garbage bag (Or a box of them should be in your vehicle) If you don't have one next time you see me ask, I will give you one.

Went up to Waynes world today and this is what I found. Picked up four smashed beer cans and other litter.

Then found this unopened beer right by the obstacle. If this is your beer, NO you cant have it back.

Last time I was up Rattlesnake it was miserably trashed - I filled the garbage bag I carry and tossed more in the bed. I think we filled the back of Steve's Taco with shotgun shells and banana peels and various sundries. The special part was the slick of transmission fluid down the face of Wayne's World, with a U4WDA "I participated in National Public Lands Day" sticker floating in a puddle at the base.

But compared to what I saw out on Stansbury Island today, Five Mile Pass is pristine. Blech.

If you would like to try to return the Beer it belongs to the Cowboy in the flannel shirt with the pistol on his hip.

I'm on that band wagon, I know it's not us but people need to knock that S**t off. Haven't been to 5 mile for a while but last time at Mini Moab I hauled out more trash than my samurai could carry, probably took out enough beer cans to buy me lunch...we have seen this before, anybody remember "Lark" back in the day

When we were up there 3 weeks ago, I didn't see any trash on the Rattlesnake trail. All the trash was in the staging/parking lot, and up on top of the mine tailings. I think we're doing a pretty good job keeping the actual trail clean.

I was surprised at the number of casings we found up there. Scary to know that so many people are shooting in a no-shooting zone where there are ATVs, Jeeps, and Dirt bikes all over the place.

Do we need to organize a Rattlesnake/Constrictor trail cleanup day? Get 10+ rigs out, run the trails and pickup litter.

Greg, would the BLM care if we hung a temporary banner at the entrance for a couple weeks, reminding guys to take care of the trail? If we couldn't find a graphics place to donate it, I'm sure we could scrape up a little dough among ourselves to pay for it.

There was a bit, more truck parts than beer cans. But you're right, the trail itself was relatively clean.

this is usually the case when we do the big clean up every year. The trails themselves are pretty clean its the areas where people are camping, shooting and hanginig around in parking areas that are the worst.

My concern is that most anything that isn't official is going to get torn up, shot up and destroyed out there. Even official kiosks get the same treatment. It's sad, but IMO the reality.

Along those lines, perhaps we could approach the BLM about a kiosk at the entrance to Rattlesnake and make it's main focus to be "Stay the Trail" and "Pack out what you Pack in".

Is there still a kiosk in the parking area? We could put a flyer up there reminding them to pack out their trash.

Ya there is a bulletin board, unfortunately I don't think anyone that is dropping trash would take the time to read anything.

Agreed.

Lets plan an RME Cleanup and Trail Ride up Rattlesnake & Constrictor.

I won't be able to attend, so is there someone that would be willing to help put this together?

If nobody else wants to, I'm willing to try and coordinate something. I don't have a weekend to call my own until May 25th. How many other folks are free that Saturday, for a morning cleanup and afternoon trail run?
