Thanks,its getting there slowly.Like you said the boatsides gave me a nice solid place to tie everything together.
For the shocks I used the stock chevy mount on the axle and mounted the shock at roughly the stock angle that chevy did.I did the same thing on my last 2 CJ's and it worked pretty well.I have a '87 3/4ton Sub.So I just eyeballed that.I can get you the angle if you need.

No, its not necessary. I am relocating the shock mounts on the axles so I will probably have to fab new upper shock mounts as well. I will probably tie them into the cage on the rear and I have my eyes on a product to relocate the fronts.

If your going on top of the axle,just go straight up and down.It is the easiest.I didn't have room on this one.

Been getting some work done.I ended up cutting the body off behind the doors.Added a couple of tubes for the sides.Also extended the boatsides 9".Then added a crosstube between them.

The floor will be tied to it.Extending the front floor 9".

The rear seat mounts are the same as the front using the boatside crosstube.Here is the front mounts without the seats in the way.Didn't get a pic of the rear.

Fabbed a riser for the YJ tank.It is a tight fit behind the rear seat.The body will be enclosed from the rear seats forward.The tank will be hidden and above the tank will be a enclosed section.

Tank Tank is nice and high up in the frame.

Here is the sideview.The wheelwell will be moved back to match the boatside.There will be another downtube added to the boatside.I just need some more tubing.There will be a tube running from the reat seat upper harness bar down to the frame.And maybe from the same point to the B-pillar roof intersection.

Should start on the floor and sides this week.

Got started on skinnning the rear seat section.
Here's the inside.The triangle area on the right will be filled when the outside is skinned.

Here's the driverside outside.I also added a tube from the siderails to the frame.The rear shock mount will come off this.

Driverside is skinned.I notched the doorframe and angled the sides in.

Here you can see the angle the sides are at now.

Been slowly getting stuff done.Cut out the crossbar in back and lowered it down in order to make it easier to load.Cut out a taillight piece and welded it in.Above and behind the crossbar is a floor piece that bolts in above the gas tank.This area is skinned seperately from the passenger area.

Here is the gas filler.Used 3" exhaust tube and the stock filler.Started lining the body.Still drying in the pics.

Rear upper shock mounts.Used one of those bolt on mounts something like Chevy used in the past.Cut a hole in the downtube and welded it in.You can see the shocks in the firts pic.The axle mount is not on yet.Will add that when the final pinion angle is set and the perches welded on.

Order up the seat belts and a Summit Racing universal wiring harness.Along with a electric fuel pump and relay.Need to order up a few more parts.But they will have to wait until after the holidays.Still plenty to do for now.

Well I have been working on this.I ran the rest of the brakelines.Needto bleed them still.Mounted the fuel pump and and started running the lines.Also started wiring it.Keeping the dash simple.It will only have a tach,temp and oil gauge.Also the fuse block will be mountd in the dash,so no messing around on your back checking fuses.
Here's the wiring under the dash.Not finished so it is a little messy still.You can see where the battery is mounted.Need to buy a good one for this still.That one is from the Jeepster.

Here is the dash so far.Need to pull the tach and repaint to cover the heat marks from the welding the brackets on the back.The fuse block cover is sitting in it's box to give you an idea of the finished look.

The rear LED brakelights are bright!

Also mounted an electric fan to the radiator.Wired in an adjustable t-stat.
Also on a high note.It started today!!I don't have the fuel lines ran,so I poured a little gas in the TBI.Fired right up!!
Still to do.
Run the exhaust.Picked up a 3" in 3" out Thrush muffler.
Fab tierod.Need steering arm and tubing.Have the heims already.
Get a longer power steering hose made.
Buy clutch MC and mount everything.
Buy some steering U-joints and rod and fab it up.
Getting closer!

That's where my name comes from CHEvy jeEP IN.Been snowing every dam weekend.I have it at home now with no garage.SO I haven't been working on it.

It will start when I put some gas in the TBI.But won't run on it's own.Fuel pump is on.But injectors don't seem to be doing anything.I still ain't done wiring everything so it could be missing something.It still was good to hear the motor run after over a year.:greg:

AHA! Now it makes sense. I just figured you mispelled Cheap.

Its been raining here and mine too is out in it under a tarp. I did get a few more things on mine done. The Centerforce clutch went in and the housing. Tomorrow I am getting the np435 and Dana 300in. That is if the weather holds out.

Actually been getting some work done.Got it to start and run.Picked up a ORD steering arm.

Fabbed up a draglink.3/4" heims.Steelyard didn't have any .188 wall DOM so I ended up with .250 wall.Overkill but I don't need to worry about it bending.LOL

Also fabbed up the steering shaft.Had to use 3 u-joints and a 3/4 heim for a support.Works excellent.

Fabbed up a rear D-shaft.Basicly shortened the stock Chevy 8 foot long 2 piece down to a 28" single.

Traction bar is done.3/4 heim on shackle end and bushing for the rest.

Used a Toyota clutch master cylinder.Just need to have a line made.Along with a powersteering pressure line.If it's nice this weekend I will set the pinon angle and weld up the perches and traction bar brackets.

Well the yota MC didn't work.Wouldn't push the clutch lever far enough.My parts dude read the boresize wrong.The Chevy's is 7.75MM(5/16") and the yota's is .635"(5/8)".The yota one is way too big.Did some research and found the YJ's is the same 7.75mm.So I picked one up and installed it.Just need to drill a hole in the pedal.Left my 90*drill at work.
Ground the calipers down to fit the 15 wheels.Got them mounted.

Also got the traction bar tacked in and the perches tacked on.Rear shock mounts welded on.Need to wait untill I can drive it to fully weld the traction bar and perches on.The cord for my lincoln 225 welder doesn't reach now.

Had a brakeline leaking had to fab a new one.Welded the perches and traction bar on.Also pulled it out of the driveway under it's own power.Not done but getting closer.Need to do the exhaust,finish wiring,bleed brakes,add more tube to cage,lock the front,double check the rear axle and seal it.And more I am sure I am forgetting.

Nice job. I have thought several times of moving my rear axle back that far, didn't want to cut up my body but now that it has been rolled it took care of the not wanting to modify the body issue.

Are you going to the JCCA event this month?

Well got the brakes bled.Man they work GOOD!Also the traction bar seems to be perfect.The rear axle doesn't rotate a bit.I can dump the clutch and it will light the rears up.No hop.Now I need to finish the exhaust and am still having a issue with it not firing up without dumping a little gas in the TBI first.I think it is in the fuel pump relay wiring.
