I want to stay with the 65-68" WMS range, and want to use the Eaton I have here, what options do I have for a 8 lugged front axle with a driver side drop? Is there a 44 with this?

I am no axle expert by any means, but I think that the fords (one ton) (pre 99.5) have 8 lug driver side drop axles with a common 8 lug bolt pattern.

99.5 and up have the metric bolt pattern.

I know that the Ford Dana 60's are 8 lug and if you get them from like 85ish back they are 8 on 6.5. What Eaton do you have? I believe the 60 I swapped into my suburban was a 85. Don't trust my dates too much :) . I have a dana 44 out of a ford that is 8 on 6.5 drivers pinion that might work for you. If interested its in the drivetrain section.

Unless he's running the UBER-KEWL 260 jointed shafts in that older bugger. :D If it's got ABS and/or a 242, I'd bet it's the same 297 as the D44, though.

Isn't it also closed knuckles & drum brakes? Not a desireable axle IMO.

The Eaton is a H110, 2.5t. It came from the dually model, but will accept the 14b outers for single wheel apps. 5.14's, detroit, 35 spline, FF.

I checked the one we have outside this morning, open knuckle disc brake.

That's interesting, I wonder if it was changed. I had a '76 F-250 for a while & it had closed knuckles & drum brakes. Because of that I decided no to use it as a parts donor for my Bronco.

I have an eight lug dodge front end. Passenger side drop. Not sure which you need. Flat top knuckles on both sides, disk brakes. Make me an offer.
