82 Chevy 3/4 ton emissions

I'm looking at buying an 82 3/4 ton Chevy truck. The truck was last licensed in Tooele and all of the smog related stuff has been removed. I'm looking for information on where I can find the check valves and hoses that will be required for registering it in Salt Lake. Also would this year of truck require a cat?

82 you should be good with just a sniff test. I think 84 is the oldest a visual is required. No cat needed if it runs clean.

Bobdog is right on. Get it running on all cylinders with approx. the right fuel mixture and you're in business.

Depends on the trucks GVWR. Back then, 8500# and above didn't come from the factory with Cats.

The GVWR of this truck is less than #8500??

So it had it stock but I don't need it if the motor runs clean enough without it, right?

I just got off the phone with the county, they confirmed that 83 and older as long as it burns clean enough its fine. 84 and newer has to have ALL factory emission devices intact.
