Dude ive seen it before it was done and after and it is a MAJOR improvement and I wish i had done this to my Sammy, Rather than a rattle can job maybe ill redo it this winter. You should put a black race stripe on it:rofl:

Buy some of the black. Add just a little bit to your mix, and it'll tone it down a little, and wont be so bright. I put a little of the red in the yellow, so it wouldn't be so bright.

And I'm considering some black side stripes. Also haven't painted the top yet, but I think I'm gonna keep it black. just recoat it.

BTW that rattle can job on the red sammy looks pretty good

;)I went by HD today to see what they had for colors:-\!

not a lot of choices, but at $9 a qt. it would't cost too much to mix a few different shades:rolleyes:!

Did you mix each coat ? or one large batch & keep it in a sealed container:eek:??

I used a bout a tablespoon of red, for every 8 ounces of yellow. I mixed each coat since I didn't have a big enough container to mix it all, and didn't know if I'd be able to use it all before it dried out. And yeah, not a lot of choices. Just make sure you get the oil-based paint.

I guess I'll have to get some cheep measuring spoons & cups at the dollar store & keep track of my ratios:):):)!

I think the Hunter Green with a dab of Royal Blue & 2 dabs of black, might make a pretty good shade of Forest Green:rofl::rofl::rofl:!

Guess there's only one way to find out:shawn:!!

I thought about mixing some other colors in it, but I like the idea of having a spray can for touch ups. If I mix, I won't have that option.

Updates

Got a couple of updates, Some good some bad, I threw on a couple of extra coats when someone pointed out that I missed the rocker panels. Apparently completely. Also I got a new bumper. :) Very happy.

The bad. I walked out of work today, and found that someone had keyed my nice new paint job. Whether it was simply because it's an off-road rig, or because of the Suwa Sucks sticker, or even the "This vehicle runs on 100% recycled dinosaurs" sticker, or even just where I work, I just don't know.

I've been thinking of what to do with it. I was thinking a couple of black strips down each side, (covering the scratch of course). As it seems it's being called the "Short Bus" I was thinking of some sort of lettering with it.

Opinions, grips, complaints. All welcome
Also would like to hear some updates from all the people who may have started this method on their own rigs.

looks great and thank you for the links you gave towards the beginning. I am going to go to the store and see what I can find, still not sure if I want all black or all green. I also have to find something to strip all the crappy rustoleum bed liner off the body.
