I just bought a really nice 93 country edition xj tonight. Only thing wrong is the a/c isnt working it blows a little cold but very little and i used the word very sparingly. The owner said it worked great last year and just kept getting warmer and now it dont work. So here is the catch... The compressor kicks on just fine so there has to be pressure in it right? but it just stays on and runs and runs and runs never clicks off like a normal compressor and i know this isnt normal. It runs the r12 freon and i was thinking maybe it needed a charge and was going to convert it over to 134 but if dont want to drain the system if it is full. Im just trying to figure out what would cause the compressor not to kick off and on and if this has anything to do with it not cooling?? i know nothing about ac and i dont have the money to have it looked at but this heat is awful without ac any help please??? maybe bad condenser? plugged lines?? heck i dont know a thing or where to even look. or maybe it does need a top off and converting it to 134 would fix it?? i prefer to keep r12 if it is full i hear it works better?
