I've got a bad steering box on my 95 ZJ, but car-part doesn't indicate that I can use the one off of the 96 ZJ parts car that I have. Does any one know why not?
96 ZJ steering box work in 95 ZJ?

Can't think of what would be different. They should be the same part number.

They are indeed the same 93-98, only difference would be in the pump itself, but connections are the same. If it's a 4.0 with 242 transfer case please PM me ASAP!!

The car I'm trying to fix is a 4.0 with a 242. The parts car is a V8 and probably has a 249, I imagine. I have a 97 4.0 engine core if you are interested.
Boxes should be the same...you can also use a box from a YJ, XJ, MJ, TJ, Waggy, or Durango.The Waggy and Durango boxes are also a little stronger and I think they both have 4 hole mounting for additional strength (I know the waggy does for sure, not totally certain about the Durango)

If you use a Dango box you have to redo the spacer between the frame and box. You can add a few washers or build a one.

Yes, it did work. Installed it yesterday afternoon with no problem. Thanks for the advice.
