97 G.Cherokee Lift Problems - HELP

I'm asking for a friend that has a 97 Grand Cherokee with a Teraflex 3" lift on it. He has had a constant problem with it pulling and dipping to the right HARD when accelerating. We've had the alignment checked, added a trac-bar, replaced the steering stablilizer. It's obvious that it's the torque that's making this dipping, but this is drastic. Any input would be great.

Thanks-

NEVER heard of that. Is it a collision ZJ? I've heard of that kind of issue on braking or hitting a bump, but not when accellerating.......Sounds like the rear axle is 'cocked' from the unibody being not repaired properly or possibly from the lift.

In one of the issues of Off-Road Adventures someone had the exact same problem and sent in a letter to the Tech person and I think he said it was the steering box but I can't remember for sure. I will try to find that issue or maybe if someone had read it also they can verify.

What happened with the shocks? Did he get new ones with the kit or get them somewhere else? It gets pretty excessive on those grands. Brad's will twist enough to pick the inside tire up if you're turning.

Common? My wife's ZJ has an Upcountry suspension with a Budget Boost.....doesn't behave that way at all?

I don't know. Is there a power difference? Brad's is a 5.9, I've heard of others that have done it. Maybe they're the V8's with more torque? ?
Check the sway bars, make sure they're there and on good angles. Check the shocks for issues. Maybe he could try some stiffer springs.

Yeah we are dumb-founded at the whole deal. He bought Doetsch Tech shocks with it (at time of instal, everything was new), i'll check them tonight and see if one or another is by chance leaking. The Jeep has never been hit or involved in an accident either. His Grand is only the 6 cyl. , but yes, it appears that it is "cocking" itself or something to that effect. Maybe a bad bushing or something?.... I guess it's a jeep thing that I am not understanding right now....?

I think it's a squishy lifted jeep suspension thing, just something's making it worse. I can't think of what would make it that bad though, that's something you'll wanna take to Mepco and have a mechanic take it for a ride or something. They know the characteristics of lifted jeeps pretty well.

I have never heard of this before but I am sure that you will have better luck if you search the forums or post at
WWW.NAGCA.COM
they are real good there I would think that Cody would probably be a good person to ask also. He knows a lot about the ZJ's

Have someone drive behind the GC and look at axles and other undercarrige parts. The problem sounds just like my friends TJ when he stripped out his Tera arms, the rear axle would wander all over the place and his Jeep would drive under accel because the arm would pull apart.

Older tera arms have been known to do that before they upgraded to a fine thread. If that's the case power brake the vehicle and have someone watch the arms. It's a little easier than having someone drive after you.
