I'm installing a 98 AW-4 into a CJ with a OBD1 4.0l. I have searched on many message boards, Google'd it to death and can't find much info on using the OBD2 trans with a OBD1 system. One suggestion is to change the speed sensor, rear I guess, for a earlier one and use the earlier TCU wired properly. This 98 trans has a 4-toothed speed sensor rotor on the tail shaft, the AW-4 manual I downloaded from the net shows a 2 lobed rotor on the tail shaft. Maybe this is what needs to be changed along with the sensor. Can anyone verify this or steer me to some more info?
P.S. I will be using Brett's shifter so it will be manually shifted (electrically) but it would be nice to have full auto too. TIA
