99 4runner Please Help

I'm going to Joshua Tree, CA over Labor Day to help my girlfriend recover her 4runner. It has been sitting for two years. I'm told rabbits ate the spark plug wires.

So, I'm looking for a spark plug wiring diagram or a picture of someone's motor. She says it is a 4 cylinder 22re.

I plan on taking a basic set of tools, installing new plugs, wires, battery, fluids, turn the key, and pray. It's a Toyota, so it should be okay. I may have to find some used tires.

Any 4runner folks have any other suggestions?

A 89 or 99 4runner? A 99 would not have a 22RE. If it is a 99 I have a factory service manual you can make copies of whatever diagrams you need. I've seen the manuals online on TTORA also.

If it truly is a '99 4runner 4cyl, it'd have the 2.7ltr 4cyl DOHC 3RZ, and not the 2.4ltr 22RE.

I'd take a truck/trailer so you're not wasting your time. Then you can work on the 'runner without stress or worrying about dried up bearings or seals or whatnot.

Sorry you didnt post this last week, I was just got back from that area today, i could have taken a trailer and brought it back for alitle gas coin....

Thanks for the input! I will have to look at the motor when I get there and verify. The photo and manual will help. I have a tow dolly I will have my girlfriend pull out there, but it would only be good for local moving.
