99 taco trans questions

ive got a 99 taco with 2.4l 4 cyl and i was wondering if i can use a w 56 trans from a mini truck work or not and if anyone has tryed it?

Yes but you must use the bellhousing from the tacoma as well.

will it bolt up to the w 56 or do i need a adapter plate?

The tranny behind your 2rz should be a W59 so it has the same bellhousing as a W56 since they are both a W series trans. If you wanted to use an R series trans you would need Marlins custom bellhousing.

Your Taco has a W59. The bellhousing pattern on the engine side is different, but where is bolts to the transmission is the same so use your Tacoma's bell. You won't need any adapters for that.

The W56 will not bolt up to your t-case though and i don't think there is any way to make it work. The t-case that works with the W56 has the output on the opposite side...

EDIT: 2RZ = 2wd. Sorry I guess you don't need to worry about the whole t-case thing.

thanks that is what i needed it is my dad 2 wd taco and he want to convert to 4 wd drive and i have a d60 with pass side drop thanks for all the help
