A/C question on a 97 honda

I have a 97 honda civic and the A/C isn't blowing cold when its hot outside (its blows cold when its around 70). I figured it may be low on freon since the high pressure side fitting is dirty and has leaked a little. I fixed the leak by reseating the valve guts. Well I hooked up some freon and it was barely low. I added some though and it didn't help. The compressor comes on like its suppose to. Not sure what could be going on or what to do next to fix it.

are you getting enough air flow across all of the parts? nothing filled with bugs or dirt restricting flow?

I have found that the gauges on the cans from checker/autozone are worthless. When My cars say they are in the "good" section I have somewhat cold air, when I push it into the "danger" area then I get really cold air. I just fill until the can quits pressurizing the car. I will use almost all of the biggest bottle they make in my truck, and can easily use 1 of the small cans on the car.

I will give it a look.

So I go this all working. Turns out if you read the directions on the can of freon that it helps. Apparently the pressure depends on the ambient air temp. so I just hadn't added enough. I added more and its all better.

I dont know if your car has a cabin air filter but I have fixed 3 honda ac problems in the last two months with really nasty cabin air filters.
