Does anyone know if R12 refrigerant is still available at any shops? I heard it is pricey or unavailable and I would need to convert to R132. What is required to convert if I have to? Thanks
r-12 is becomming unobtanium, so I would convert over to r134-a. I have used the cheap conversion kits sold at the auto parts stores in the past with decent results. If your system has damage or is leaking it will be more complex to get it back up and running, but soooo worth it!
I have some small r12 cans and the tools to put it in, not sure what it goes for. The last RME re-charge went for spare parts to fix my brother's jeep.
Krany they have been saying they are going to change to a another re-frigerant for years they have a one thats called R1234a i believe thats susposed to be less harmful to the enviroment but that is the only concern and reason for changeing. If you want to use r12 you need a r12 recovery machine those are whats hard to come by some shops still have one,but you can just add alittle from Daveb's cans.im ASE HVAC certified so if you have any question pm me
