I'm selling one of my horses on KSL, http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=218&ad=10445293&cat=106 I have had a few calls and a couple emails, one of the emails sounded legit until I got this email this morning:

Thanks for the prompt response and am happy to hear from you and i will like to let you know that i have gone through the advert and am very pleased with it,So i want to buy it for my personal use and i am at sea at the moment as i am a marine engineer and due to the nature of my work, phone calls making and visiting of website are restricted but i squeezed out time to check this advert and send you an email regarding it. I really want it and am ready to buy it. I insisted on paypal because i don't have access to my bank account online as i don't have internet banking, but i can pay from my paypal account, as i have my bank a/c attached to it, i will need you to give me your paypal email address and the price so i can make the payments asap for it and pls if you don't have paypal account yet, it is very easy to set up, go to www.paypal.com and get it set up, after you have set it up i will only need the e-mail address you use for registration with paypal so as to put the money through. I have a pick up agent that will come and pick it up after i have made the payments,So kindly send me your full home address so that i can have it forwarded to the agent who is coming for the pick-up and inspection and am ready to make payment for it immediately you e-mail me back with the information requested for...i look forward to your fast response..thanks

So, why paypal? Is it a way to get into your bank account thats tied with paypal? I am going to sendy him and eamil and tell him to just paypal the money to the "agent" and he can pay me cash when he picks it up :D

I'd ask for a phone number and talk to the guy over the phone. It seems very much like a lot of scams that i've seen.

I'd say scam. Anyone who says, "for my personal use" about a horse is suspect to me.
It also seems like they pushed the through a bad translation program of some sort.

what kind of inspection is he thinking of ? brand inspection? vet inspection for health and coggins papers ? or are they gonna hook it up to an emissions machine ? .... i say scam  .. good luck with the sale of your beautiful horse and if need help transporting it let me know .

Everytime I sell something on KSL I get a similar email but he is a Marine Biologist at sea. He does offer me more than what I am asking. I respond and say that I get this same response on everything I sell and then I don't hear from him again.

SCAM!

Report it to PayPal and forward the email and email address to spoof@paypal.com.

This gets them to track it down and stop this crap. They will never be done tracking this kind of scam but it every little bit helps.

I had a slimier thing going down just the order day, but they wanted to mail me a check, and give them my Address so their "Contact" Could pick up the item... They Never once refer to the price on KSL, or to what the item is, not to mention the whole e-mail they send is in Engrish rather than in English...

This is old news.
If its Such old News why didn't any of us see you posting anything about it??

kinda like my Sig says you're always proving it true...

Why would I need to post anything in reference to it unless I had been victimized or getting paid to do so? I would hope people are intelligent enough to decipher a scam from truth. One of my friends came to me inquiring about it when he posted a used Blackberry on KSL awhile back and received an almost identical email. My background is mostly in E-Marketing/E-Commerce and have to be aware of these things, considering how much I put through Paypal and sell online.

And my sig is consistently being proven, thanks!

I think it's legit. It think it's that miss America chick that talked about the iraq and such as and how kids in other countries need more maps. She'd look good galloping around on your horse. Ya, definitely her, not a scam. Tell her I'm a big fan!
