Looks like a great way to spend a January day Greg. And I'm glad the conditions weren't too bad. Last two times I've been out, I've had my Jeep stuck in snow drifts - twice, each day, four times total.

Getting tired of digging it out!

 Sounds like an adventure Dave! Where have you been going? Seems like there wasn't too much snow around the Swell, other than the roads that gathered the blowing snow. However, East of Green River the desert has well over a foot of snow all over.

I did think of you when we saw the 2 coyotes, Daisy actually spotted the first one and got us looking.

Thanks for the kind words everyone, it was a good day to get out and explore the desert!

I looked at the receipt for the exact numbers, $60 in parts (seal kit and O-ring) and $260 in labor, $320 total. The pump seems to be working fine, no leaks.

A new pump from Toyota costs $450 or so, plus install cost. I could do it myself, but the tall pig doesn't fit in my garage! And I didn't want to be swapping PS pumps outside in 20* weather.

I have stopped daily driving my 80, and I have gone out and started it here and there, and the PS pump growls at me every time...I think she is mad I am not driving her around like I was. I am thinking a rebuild might be in my future...I have 185k on the clock now...

Been getting stuck out in the West Desert. Mostly, the snow hasn't been "too" bad, except for the dang drifts. A couple of them, after getting stuck, I was able to dig out, back up and take another run to bust through them and keep going forward. But the other couple, were so deep and heavy packed, just had to retreat after getting unstuck :(.

Good eyes Daisy! :D

From what you could see, how do you think the snow is looking down around Hanksville? Thinking about a camping trip down that way sometime in the next few weeks.

That's how mine started, eventually the rear seal went out. Just catch it before it gets too bad and really damages the pump.

Sounds like fun Dave! At least you know when to call it quits and not end up spending the night in the cold desert.... again. :D

The area just East of the Swell didn't seem to have too much snow, but Hanksville is a decent distance from I70, where we were. There could be more snow than I'm aware of, just due to the distance, but it doesn't look bad from where we were.

love that (those)trails! Awesome photos. Sick 80 *cheers*

Thanks! Hard to go wrong in the Swell. The FZJ is quite photogenic, me... not so much.

Maybe as soon as next month. Optionals are next month and being the baby holding a regular job I get what's left over. It's a wait and see thing right now.

:( At least it's Winter, we're not going to go too far right now. Hopefully by Spring you'll be back to being down here Sat & Sun.
