Very cool

We were in the Callao area when a member of our group lost a fuel pump on his Land Cruiser. No phone service. A member of our group was able to use the HAM to hit another member of the group in Ely, whom in turn picked up a pump and met us in Wendover where we towed the wounded Land Cruiser. Saved the day.

A large portion of the state is covered by repeaters, we were in the heart of the San Rafael Swell last weekend (ZCMI mine along Devils Racetrack) and were able to hit the repeaters and communicate with someone up in Price.

KE7FYQ clear :D

I answered a guy a few years back that was in the middle of Utah Lake, in a pretty bad wind storm. We were able to get his location well enough that the sherrifs were able to go out and rescue him. I just had to relay info from him, to the 911 dispatch and back.
