Anyone know about this rig? On Kane Creek parked on the hill towards the end of the trail this has been moved to the side so it it out of the way, but it is perched on some stacked rocks, tires are missing, when I got there the hood was up, these guys pushed the hood down. I did not poke around too much but my guess is that other parts are missing as well.

Nice! I hope someone is planning to go in and get it. I don't understand why people would just leave a vehicle behind like that. Speaking of vehicles left behind what ever happened to the blue TJ in Mineral Basin I think it was?

I wonder if the owner ditched it and salvaged the wheels and misc parts or if other poeple helped themselves to the poor guy's situation haha

With it being a 73-75, Im surprised the top is still on it.

What would a recovery take? Some roller wheels and tires, and a good strap?

I would think that some rollers and some good horsepower to get it up the last few hills that finish out the trail. Maybe some boards or sand ladders to build ramps top get over some of the obsticles. About 50' in front of it is a waist high ledge that it would need to be dragged over.

We reported it to the BLM, along with the VIN number on the truck. That was a week or so ago, haven't heard anything back.

So the BLM used the VIN to track down the owner, and he told them the predictable story "oh, I sold that a long time ago". Anyway, the BLM said that if we can get it out, we can do whatever we want with it. So this Sunday (7/26), MFFW is going to attempt an extraction. If we can get it out, we'll use the full width D44's for a Samurai project for one of our members.

Very cool that you get some insentive to remove it. I wish I could make it down there to help you out with it. Hopefully you are able to extract it and make it a win-win for a fellow wheeler and the BLM.

Hopefully the rest doesn't just get scrapped:mad:

There are alot of good parts on that rig still...I could use some, I'll be down in sept. for Blazer Bash;)

What do you want off it?
Mostly the hood but a few other odds and ends also. I would suggest posting it for sale or part out on CK5 and let the proceeds go to U4WDA. A bunch of guys from there will be down for Blazer Bash. Hard top doors and upper windshield frame could fetch some cash for guys wanting to go full convertible...Just a thought:D

It would be cool to see it parted out and have the money go back towards the Moab trails. If the money went into the MUD fund, U4, or my favorite idea is back to MFFW who has manned up to take care of the problem, it would be great.

Thanks again drtsqrl for all the hours you spend sticking up for Moab wheeling.

I'll second this, I'd rather this help the guys that are doing the work locally.

I wish I could stay in town an extra day to lend you a hand, but I've got to hit the road fairly early.

I dont know if you've seen it yet or not, but it's in a little wose shape than what the previous photos show. You've got your work cut out for ya. This is how it sat at 3pm today. Fargin thiefs and vandals are having their way with it. :mad2:

Should be a little lighter now, with no glass left. You'll have to toss out about 500 pounds of rocks that are inside of it now.

Yeah, we went up there to check it out last weekend, and that is how it was sitting then. I'm just glad somebody didn't roll it all the way off the cliff. It's not gonna be easy...
