For the most part it is a pretty good graded road like the photo shows. But a little ways above where the big boulder is across the road there is a section that often washes out & get pretty rough at times. You could get your truck up or down it without too much worry, but towing a trailer might get tricky.

ummm......no that doesn't take you to Hey Joe Canyon at all. If you want to get to Hey Joe and the mines, you have to go up on top of Island In The Sky, take a right on the Dubinky (sp?) Well road, and head out to Spring Canyon. You drop in down to the Green River and then you head right to the mines.

Silly mish

Mandatory poseur shot

EDIT: Green River, not the Colorado

whatever, i drove the trail last year, and that's where we were. and that's how we got to Hey Joe... we followed the trail book the entire time, so, maybe there's more than one way to get in.... i KNOW we went that route, and i KNOW we did Hey Joe Canyon. so back off....

Dude, trust me.....if you take Long Canyon and you are heading DOWN the canyon, it'll take you to the Potash Road and nothing else. Go check your books if you don't believe me. You can head UP Long Canyon, which will connect you to the Dead Horse Point Road and Utah 313. If you go this way, you'll have to get back on the highway, make a right, drive about 7 miles on the asphalt and then make a left on the Dubinky Well Road, which is just a graded dirt road. After that, you drive about 4 miles, then branch off of the main road, which heads right. Spring Canyon trail stays straight and takes you down to the canyon about 9 miles in. This is where you drop down to the Green River.

As for more than one way to get into Hey Joe Canyon and Spring Canyon Bottom, no there is not any other way.

You could go up Long Canyon on the way to Hey Joe Canyon. But it is a little out of the way. Long Canyon is on the Colorado River & Hey Joe Canyon is on the Green River. There is a pretty fair distance between the two.
