As of 4:10pm today there is a road block in AF Canyon so if you are heading up there make sure your junk is registered and you have your belt clicked....

If you are a drunken driver plz disregard the previous paragrah....

Are they having people stop and checking theyre licenses? Or just random?

They stop everyone when they do that. It's mostly a drunk check, but they will check your license and the registration on offroad stuff..

Edit: And my Polaris wan't registered :ugh: -_-

FYI I was working that checkpoint tonight. I was the shaved bald guy in all green (i know we are all bald). I saw several 4x4s and tried to talk to them all. Basically the checkpoints are sobriety checks. If we smell alcohol or drugs then we do more investigating. Everything was all good up there tonight.

Were you there on Friday?

Whoever talked to me didn't dig too deep into my registration since I was on my way out....

No I wasnt there on Friday. Registration is the last thing we worry about on a sobreity checkpoint.

I've seen that check point twice now, that is the PERFECT place to put it, you can't see it from either direction until you are on it... and you even have room for your motorhome ;)

I went through the checkpoint Friday night at 11:00. They just asked to see my license. Since, by law, I had to mention that I had a CCW, the sheriff relaxed right away and we BSed for a couple seconds about concealing guns in church. He said us CCW-ers never give him any problems, it's the ones that are afraid of guns in churches that he worries about.

At night, with all their lamps on, you can see it coming up. I had no idea what it would be, though, thought it was road construction.

I've been stopped maybe 6 times in the almost 5 years that I've had a permit, I've never actually had a gun on my person, but in the class they tell you to inform the officer anyway.... the first few times I did and always got a weird look, finally I asked one if they even cared and they said no..... so I don't say anything unless they ask (I usually do have at least one gun with me)

I guess RME is a pretty good place to get a consensus of MANY different departments

EDIT: I almost apologized for hijacking the thread before I realized it's my thread :greg:

Since you're authorizing the hijack...
In Utah, your CCW is tied into your driver's license, so as soon as they pull up your driver info, they know you have a CCW. I figure that it's best that the cop knows first off exactly what he's dealing with in case it makes him nervous, regardless that it's law that you inform him. I was stopped in January by two sheriffs, and one was a newb and it made him nervous I was packing. He made me take it out and give it to him, then he unloaded it and kept it in his Durango until it was time for me to go. It seems that if you're up front and honest, it works in your favor. Since I've had my CCW, every time I've been pulled over the cop has been a lot nicer and more liable to let me off with a warning. Even the UVSC cop let me off with a warning, and they're usually the biggest dicks.

Ya that's what they told me in class... but the one I asked (actually a Lehi cop that I was friends with in school) said that when he looked up my DL it didn't say anything about the concealed.
