me and some friends went up af on sunday was lots of fun went up by rock garden tons and tons of water going down all trails up there very fun though.Tried to go up forest lake road but it is all washed out at the beginning so we turned around(water in the river very deep) water went up to my windshield in my stock cherokee.....the main reason for this post is we wanted to go do marry ellens gulch(sp?) all looked good on the way up got about 3/4 up and was stopped by some people and 4 wheelers said road is gone taken out by very big slide they said you can not even tell there was a road. so we are on this narrow road that is just wide enough for a car and no where to turn around :ugh:  so we had to back down the trail about a 1/4 mile to a spot just wide enough to turn around....so warning to all do not go upthere in a vehichal the road is washed out and it is not fun to turn around on that road trust me....there was nothing saying it was out so do not do it unless your on some sorda bike so ya can turn around i didnt see the slide my self but sounds bad i hope the road is fixable i liked it up there

Yep, I went up there a few weeks ago and couldn't figure out what happened to the trail... it looked like there was never one even there.

ps, I went through that river going up to Forest Lake on my quad..... almost didn't make it, thank god for POWER.....

I don't think your Jeep would run if the water was up to your windshield. My dad was up there yesterday, and said a 4wd 4-wheeler went accross the river at the Forest Lake road, but just about got washed down stream trying to cross it

Me too

I drove over that river twice on Saturday morning (once going over and once back). My Xterra didn't float but I did feel like I was going to die.

The water was half way up my doors and pretty frigging close to my intake. :ugh:

i made it as far as the lodge pole fence line just to the west of the lake entrance. the snow was wayyyy deep.

My girlfreind wasn't too worried about the water :D

I didn't think the trail was that bad, we drove the whole thing with just the rear locker on, Friday we took a stock Cruiser on 31's (though he did get stuck in the snow at the fence)

The lake sure is full

oh it did go up to windsheild whith the force of water and me driving it was very scary when going across the first time didnt know it was that deep till i got in the middle by then i was at the point of no return so i gave it all it had.On the way bac it took me about 20 min to get the balls to cross it again knowing how deep it was.As far as marry ellens from what we were told by the bikers and the way shawn explains it above it sounds like it may not be fixable :(

A friend and I went up AF canyon last monday. We were going to go up Mineral Basin and play around.... When we got to that area here is what we found...

american%20fork%20062005%20007.jpg

I pulled up and about 7 people came running for me. So I put it in revers

american%20fork%20062005%20008.jpg

The water was VERY deep in places, too!!!!!

american%20fork%20062005%20009.jpg

The guy had NO tow points and his buddies Cherokee was a 2x4. Don't ever do this people.... These guys were stuck and with the rig blocking the path, there was no way that other cherokee could have got around to go for help. Luckily they were planning on camping up there, so they had tents and bags and stuff. But....

wow the water is much deeper and has washed out that road alot more since these pics the pine tree to your left in the 3rd pic you can barley get around that now the water has washed it out so much and it is way deeper now where your jeep is wayne.... when we went up there there was a full size dodge ram charger stuck right where you are at and it was so deep that it was almost laying on its passenger side and just behind you the whole road is water now you have to drive up the "river" to even get up to where your at then you can just squeeze by that pine with out falling in the water and it is deep....i will try to get pics up of the guy that was stuck right where your jeep is at.....man that has changed alot in a week tons tons more water and road is almost gone :ugh:

I think the reason it showed me stopped in that picture was because I had just dropped the passenger side into a hole and got off camber, scaring the crap out of me. I eventually pulled him all the way through the 'river' before unhooking.

Wish there were an easy answer to that, word of mouth for now, but hopefully we can come up with something more efficient... :-\
