Yes it's open, and Meat and I were up there on wheelers 2 weeks ago. The main road is clear, but snow was still covering everything above 8000 feet. I'm sure it has receeded a little by now.
If you're coming up on 6/9, come to the U4WDA service project at 9AM and go wheeling with the group at 1PM.

It depends, but for such a project, we usually split into groups at the end. Some go home, some take one trail, some take another, etc.

Let me add that another answer is: Not Enough! Based on the number of closures we've seen in the last few years, it's clear that not enough 4x4 users are getting out and getting involved in land use.
I am interested though I think we should keep that canyon the most beautiful because really it is like my most favorite place in utah. Besides Zion national park. It is such a short drive that I am just waiting for morons to build cabins and crap up there. But oh well. Yeah I might be heading up. Maybe if eveyone stuck to boyscout policy cleaner than when you got there. Or no trace whatever. I have always tried to keep this policy but it is always those select few that really make it hell for the rest.

Yes, Leave No Trace (http://www.lnt.org) and Tread Lightly (http://www.treadlightly.org) are great practices to follow!
Yes, AF Canyon is awesome! It's where I spend a lot of time in the summer. It's one of the last front-country OHV areas in the United States. We're going to have to work hard to keep it open for future generations.
The number of people who show up for projects varies. Anywhere from 10 to 50. We had almost 100 show up for our National Public Lands Day project last year. Don't let the numbers deter you (one way or the other), the cause is what matters. The more people who show up for a project, the better it looks to the FS.

Well I am definately down used to do it all the time when I was a boyscout I hope a lot turn out as well. So let that be a lesson to all of you and show up. I got another question for you do you think that you can make it from Heber over AF to Utah county by the 1st of June??

Maybe, but I doubt it. There's probably some snow on Pole Line Pass that would stop you. But maybe not, it could be gone by then.
