hhhmm, that's a good question... better go with the smash and grab choice. but a list of either one will still help me out..

For theft protection I put a battery disconnect switch right on the battery $4. For smash and grab I bolted everything down. I have a clarion Ungo on my dd and haven't had any problems since installing it and also bought another one for my blazer but I have yet to install it more than anything I think the blinking red light is the best deterant

For snatch and grab there is none. By the time they gain access, normally within seconds they can have what they want in a matter of a minute. Alarms don't work because nobody pays attention to them anymore. Think about it, when was the last time you were in a parking lot and heard an alarm going off and even had a remote thought that someone might be stealing something? Your best medicine is to keep anything valuable bolted down or not in the vehicle to begin with. BTW, recent trends, the number 1 & 2 items stolen in snatch and grabs are your registeration and your garage door remote. They got your address and they got access. Keep the registration in your wallet.

As for flatout theft, my only advice is get something with a tracking device because truth be told, if they want it, they will get it. All you can do is hope you notice it quickly and they haven't had the time to find the tracker. In Colorado and California the big thing now is they just pull up to your rig with a tow truck with a magnetic repo buisness logo on it, hook up, and haul it away. Nobody even bothers to question it when they think that it's an official repo.

Lastly, keep really good receipts of all mods and make sure your insurance company is aware of them and will cover them, mine does ( State Farm). Once it's stolen it's extremely rare that it's recovered. Normally they have it stripped within an hour and sell the parts on such sites like ebay.

None at all. I had my Jeep at work 2:00 pm and someone broke out the window bent the seat over backwards took my deck subs 6x9s cologne sun glasses cds and a bottle of crown royal and not one person out of 200 saw anything racking up a total of about $9,000. But I heard SMITH & WESSON makes a great one.

nah, it's the bottle of Crown that put it over the top

I think the best theft prevention is to not leave things in the open. If there appears to be nothing worth while in there then a lot of the time they'll skip to the next one that has something in sight thats worth while.

That figure also included the window, seat, and about 500 cds that I forgot to take out because I was moving. Not to mention that the 6x9s were bolted down. My fault agreed since then I have installed a Tuffy console removed any subs and installed CHEAP speakers. Now I just leave it unlocked so if they really want something that I may leave out they can have it. But if I happen to find someone doing it there will be one H*ll of an A** wuppin that comes along with it. There is one other option for grand theft though I've heard of people running toggles in a series to the starter motor if you dont have the right sequence the vehicle wont start but you still have power to your acc.

I have a Tuffy stereo console. My subs and amp have been stolen right out of my driveway, but not my deck or changer that are both mounted in the console. I also have a Hornet alarm with an infrared sensor, but I forgot to set it that night. Figures.
