Following because I like to think I would be a better welder with a nicer hood. Probably not true but a guy can hope

I'm a shitty welder but I've liked my Lincoln helmet I bought at Home Depot. It's been great for what I do and I don't recall it being terribly expensive.

I have this one. I'd buy it again for $100. Anyone that wants to try before they buy is welcome to borrow it.

I’ve been using a HF titanium brand helmet since last year and am pretty happy with it.

Before that I had some ancient fixed shade helmet covered in years of splatter. So I can’t say how nice it really is compared to other auto dimming helmets, but i can see what I’m working on pretty well.

It is auto darkening. It has an adjustment knob that goes from 9 - 13, but it doesn't seem to do anything. And a switch that has two positions, normal and fast. That one does change how fast it goes dark, but not how dark it goes.

I have a pack of replacement lenses and use them. Before it goes dark I can see fine through it. It just goes too dark, to where I really can't see my welds or where I'm putting them. And it's always been like that. I'm just finally tired enough of it to get something better.

Wonder if it’s just stuck on the 13.
