Yeah, 10 is bad and even shows you have a dead battery. I'm actually surprised it's starting/running. Almost makes me want to think you have some wiring issues. Like dirty terminals, corroded wires, etc. All of this can also make an alternator not charge...

Start it back up, and put your DVM on AC instead of DC and measure.... Point being there should be NO AC in a DC system. If there is a lot, then that means the diodes are shot in the Alt. This can also show you where a loose/dirty connection/wire is, as they will create AC current. ..There does need to be a load on the wire you are checking.
