Hey guys,
I have an 04' Rubi that I am looking to get some new rims for. The oem rims aren't doin for me anymore. I have usually gone with steel rims on all of the vehicles that see the rocks and dirt. Is it worth it too look at aluminum rims? What are ya'lls pro/cons list? If I go with the steel I am gonna go with the black steel d-hole or circle (The ones that every other jeep out there has) If yall have some you wanna get rid of PM me and let me know your asking price.

Thanks and try to keep your wheels down or at least take pictures!

My 4runner has aluminum wheels and they haven't been fairing very well. Instead of bending a little when they hit the rocks the get shaved down and chunks are starting to break off of them.

Thanks,
I think I'll go with the steel ones. I have heard horror stories about steels causing front end damage due to the weight, but I don't wanna be wheelin and havin to pick up chunks of my wheel. Haha

I kid...
I dont see how an extra 10-20 lbs of a steel wheel would cause front end damage, I would think the larger tires would cause more front end damage than steel wheels.
I went with steel wheels on my FZJ80 and they are heavy SOB's along with 33" tires, No issues yet.
Ive read this somewhere...
Alloy wheels easy to bend hard to fix, Steel wheels hard to bend easy to fit.
I dont know how true it is, But I can see where its going.
Good luck

I swapped my stock 265/75/16 road tires on OEM aluminum wheels, for 10 ply 235/85/16 MT's on steelies.. I've only lost about 1 mpg. So, while heavier than the stock setup I feel that I have a more stout combo than the OE equipment.

I'd rather have a dependable setup and lose an mpg or two.

I would go steel, my son shaved off some of the beads and bent one of my aluminum rims in cat canyon so now I have to find a new set since I doubt I can find another to match the other three.
