Do I like the idea that I had to drive off the trail to help a friend in need? No. Would I do it again? Absolutely...because if people only did it when it was absolutely necessary then there wouldn't be a problem.

That's always the excuse: "It was necessary!"

Too bad those excuses don't mean anything when trails are closed to motorized recreation.

Yeah, that's fault. Know before you go! Know your capabilities, know your rig, maintain your rig, know the routes, know when to turn around. Not sure where this uber-stuck could have happened on 111 with a capable rig and capable driver, regardless of run-off damage. But, I can think of a few off-trail places where this happens every year.

Why don't you spend your sarcastic, single minded hippie mind set trying to fix the minds of people who think it's fun to tear up the trails.

Whether you think it's fun or not, tearing up trails causes closure. Regardless of the intent. :)
