Pretty good wheelin' I had to put my civic in first gear a couple times...:D

In all reality there is only a couple of spots that require fourwheel drive let alone high clearance. There are quite a few palces you could play around with your flex and such. Overall it is a really pretty canyon but it is getting super crowded...

Oh yeah, its closed for the winter...:(

Not real demanding. Pretty though, a friend and I drove all the way to the top, you end up at the back end of Mineral Basin Ski resort (I think). I had lousy T-birds on my XJ and almost ended up tipping into a 50 ft ravine.
There's supposed to be a lake up there called Pittsburg lake. I've never been there but the trails' supposed to be somewhat demanding. I don't really know for sure though.
The canyon opens up sometime in late april or early march though.

The canyon usually opens up memorial weekend or the weekend before...

Like Cruiser said Pittsburgh is closed and could be a possibilty to some day get it reopened if we behave:D we need to show the FS and such that we really are a good group of guys and then they will start listening to what we have to say...We made some huge progress last year with the Rockgarden...

Yup, behave... leave the misbehaving to me... :D j/k

Keep it on the trails, even when you see all the damn ATV's blazin up the trail... just tell them that they are messin with my gig...:D

Last I heard they built a huge tank trap at the start of Pits... so that only hikers could rally up it... havn't been over that direction yet, can anyone confirm this...

Also has anyone been snowmobliing up there recently? Where did you go? Will they let you go up to Pits in the snow? Probably not...

How about MB do they let you go there in the snow, mabey stop in at the lodge and get some Jave...:D

I've run it stock afew times. Last attempt I was lifted, in the snow, big wet rocks, that are wet, my AT's couldn't handle it, slid sideways into a boulder, caught the diff, then turned around to go home. It's a fun place. Last I was up at Pitts, there were afew places to bog in. The first time I saw you, you were up there with Spunky. Anyways, I've never run the rockgarden, sure I could make it with my clearance now. Fun place. Don't drive in the lake, The po's hate it!!!!! They like to write tickets!!!!!! Not that I got one, but I did get yelled at by EP's shop teacher. SNR was there.

I would say it is a good trail...a fun one (not too challenging but fun) is Forest Lake...its easy to find too, stay on the main trail until you can turn and go across the river then follow that till you get to the lake...its pretty nice up there...

Nope you lie... you never saw me at Pits... I categorically deny all allegations that me or my vehicles took part in any and all activities related to Pits...

But, you may have seen me at Forest Lake... way different dude! Was I in my cruiser? Any YES they will write tickets for being in the mud hole (aka Forest Lake)...

You will be fine on everything up there. The rock garden will probably scare you, but if you have a good group of spotters with you you'll be ok.

When I took my old CJ up there I blew the hub at the beginning and then I went all the way to the top in two wheel drive so needless to say it is not bad if I was home at all I would take you up there but I would say yes it is definitely a good place to go for you first time

Sorry dude, I posted it and thought for a minute. Then I realized that I was on a different trail in my head. I've only done the Forest Lake. Yeah, you were in the cruiser. Remember when me and Wort ran into you and Spunky? We were in his truck on our way up, you were coming down, so he backed up an insainly steap legde to let you by. I remember it cause it was wierd that we all ended up on the same trail at the same time.
