AMS towing

I rolled my 4runner a few weeks back. AMS towing towed to their unmaned yard in Layton, they REPETEDLY declined me acces to get my personal belongings out over the period of 2 weeks, I even provided all the info (title, insurance info) and offered to pay all the fees to get it out and was STILL declined access. Well when the insurance picked it up and took it to AII (auto insurance auction) I finally got what was left of my things.

Someone broke the **** out of the dash tring to steal the CD player and they must have just got mad and broke it all to pieces. The subs were gone, as well and the mounted amp. They also ripped apat the interior and stole my 4 guage wiring, splitter and ground wire. AII has pictures of it as it came in and proof they didn't take anything and it was only there a couple hours.

I'm thinking about going to court over it. They also riffled through all my stuff and threw CDs everywhere and even took the floor mats.

I hate thieves and believe in karma and hope they get what's coming to them.

Everyone watch the local classifieds and listen to people talking aobut stuff for sale. I had two 10" Clarion Pro Audio 10" subs in a ported box and a Rockford Fosgate 2 channel p600.2 amplifier with one of the chrome sides missing. I know it's a long shot but it don't hurt to try. Thanks

i don't usually go looking for sterio equip but I'll keep an eye out. Not many people have that sub/amp combo.

That's a bunch of crap! There's no reason that the yard should of denied you access if you had the title and willing to pay all the impound fees. When I used to tow we wouldn't allow access unless impound toe/fees and proof of ownership provided. Sometimes people would try to collect their stuff, never pay us and left their totaled pos there. I would of called the cops and explained the situation. What was their reasons for not allowing you to pay them? Seems kinda odd. Typically we wanted impounds out ASAP. Good luck.

I'm pretty sure they have to let you in to get your stuff, but everything that is bolted in or down is another story

if they don't allow you access to your belongings. They are technically in posession of stolen property, the minute they disallow access they have stolen it. Which means if you call the cops and explain, if they won't do anything file a report, then they have to do something. at that point it's all documented, I had a similar problem once, The guy said no, I pulled out my cell phone and dialed dispatch and reported it stolen right in front of him, It was at that point he decided it wasn't worth the trouble and gave it back.

That really sucks. I hope you can get it taken care of, but it might be hard now that it is after the fact.

Like WJZUK said, they have to let you in, but anything bolted down needs to stay. So your CD player woudl have had to stay, unless the insurance company said it was ok for you to take it out.

But it's all BS. I'd file a report against them as well as let the BBB know and like you say, possibly sue them. Because no matter what, it's in their yard, they are responsible for the truck and contents.

I was denied access because it's an "unmaned lot" and they didn't have a guy that would come open it up for me nor would they sced. an appointment. The lady said she'd call back with an available time for an appoinment and never did. I should have called the police. That is totally my bad and I payed the price for not jumping on it sooner. I just trusted them that they were legitamely busy and would make time for me. Then she said I'd have to just wait until the insurance came and picked it up and never called. When I went down there it was not even in there possesion and she claimed to have "no idea" it was gone nor when she found out had she planned on calling me. It makes my blood boil everytime I think about it

I did luck out in one way... I had a title to a car I sold on ebay in the glove box ( I had just taken from the file in work and was on my way home when all this happend) and THANK GOODNESS it was still there.

At this point, call your insurance and report it vanalized with stolen property. Let your insurance company know the story and let there lawyers go after them

I think that a bunch of us should build a big sign and go down and just sit in their front yard with it... like those morons do for the labor disputes....

I think they would diffently take notice to that one...
anyone want to donate to this guys defense fund so he can get this company where it counts....

I think gijohn is on to something here haha. Im going to take to the insurance adjuster tomorrow and see if when he was let in the yard (WTF??) to take pics and estimate the value the items were there. He should still have pictures. It was only last wed when he was let in

....I'm betting at the time it had already been 'broken into' I bet it was 'broken into' within hours after it was in the yard...

Insurance has already settled and paid for the truck... I was NOT aware anything was gone until after the settlement. It's partially my fault and I take the blame. (Im so mad at myself) but the crooked effers that did it still shouldn't go on unpunished.
