Shouldn't this ban apply to video games and movies too? Halo 4 should be limited to hunting rifles and 7 round magazines? The new Schwarzenegger movie comming out friday should not be allowed anything capable of mass killings too right?

Ok i went through the document and pulled out some highlights(lowlights?) that i thought would save people time digging for on their own. I realize this is a bit long of a post so let me know if you would rather i delete it.

sellers of ammunition register with the superintendent of the State police (2) that prior to a sale of ammunition, a seller must run the buyer through a State-created review of disqualifiers to ensure that the buyer is not prohibited by law from possessing ammunition, and (3) that ammunition sales are electronically accessible to the State.

In order to prevent circumvention of these new controls, this bill requires that any seller--whether located in New York or out of state-ship the ammunition to a dealer within New York for in-person pick-up.

Currently gun licenses never expire....[however the new] law requires every license holder to recertify the licensee's gun license every five years. Failure of a licensee to have his or her license recertified will result in revocation of the license.

individuals that purchase guns through private sellers are [currently] not required to undergo background checks. This bill requires background checks for all gun sales, including private sales, ensuring that otherwise disqualified individuals cannot circumvent the law by obtaining guns buying from a private seller.

Within one year of the effective date, all weapons defined as assault weapons under the new "one-feature" test, as well as weapons grandfathered in under the original assault weapons ban, must be registered. Current owners of these banned weapons may transfer the weapons only to a firearms dealer or transfer to an out of state buyer.

The "one-feature" test would ban semi-automatic guns with detachable magazines that possess one feature commonly associated with military weapons.

"One feature" list below

The big problem here is the people that live in NY... It's obvious that the law makers arnt worried about anything happening from this because the same morons voted these people into office. The only way to change stupid states like this from doing stuff like this is to change the view of the people that live there. That being said... I've never met a single person from NY that ever impressed me.

I wonder how this will effect the economy, I saw $500 million to do what Obama wants to do (not like we have a budget problem so whats $500 million) , plus you are taking away money from the fire arms manufacturers, not sure how much, and if all of this continues, and they want to take away more, then you will continue to hurt the firearm industry and have another part of the economy go down.

That is exactly what liberals want. If you drive firearm manufacturing out of business or significantly limit and lower their production, then it will trickle down to the citizens who will not be able to buy weapons. Thus, taking firearms out of the hands of the people, thus creating control over the people.

It's simple a way to control us and limit our freedoms.

true, also a good way to continue to hurt the economy, but I know they don't look at it that way and probably think that they are expendable. I just don't get how supposedly these people are educated and should know how to deal with things like this, but yet jump to conclusions and crappy conclusions at that and don't realize what they are doing and how it wont affect anything. Course they probably do realize what they are doing like you say, slowly becoming like the Hitler take over.

They know exactly what they're doing. They're not stupid or ignorant. They want to disarm the masses. Imagine how easy it would be to make a population submissive if you didnt have to worry about then being armed.

I believe they know FULL well what they are doing. It's like boiling a frog: If you put him in water already boiled, he will jump straight out. If you leave him in and SLOWLY turn up the heat... well we all know what happens then.

This IS exactly what is happening in our society as we speak. We ARE fundamentally witnessing the transformation of our country before our very eyes. The evil designs of those seeking power and authority over others are slowly using flaxen cord to control us until strong chains bind us.
