Annoying vehicle laws I should know?

So as I am making my decission on becoming a civilian or not, a few questions come to mind. I asked basically the same question on IH8MUD.COM and was linked here.

For my '73 FJ40. It's on 37's and is SOA. Steering is totally custom FJ60/Hy-Steer. It has a newer 2F with a weber 38DGAS carb and is totally de-smogged. Other than the mud flap issue, what else would need to be done to legally register/drive this thing with minimal hassle?

For my truck the only things I can think of that may be an issue are the pillar mounted gauges and window tint. I am unaware of any emmissions requirements for the deisels, so if there are please let me know.

As for my trailer, is there any goofy stuff I need to know for that too?

Thanks all!

I assume your moving or going to be living as a civilian in Utah???

Mud flaps and fender flares on the 40 if you have excessive tire sticking out. It should be fine on the height laws...

As for the truck... guages are no problem... tinted windows have to pass the states test.

That's a huge relief. I already have TJ flares on the back of the 40. Will stock front fenders suffice though? If everything does go through, I will be shopping for a hard top for it. I stupidly sold mine with the doors when I got to Virginia. Maybe the STC soft top will work.

Are there any suggested neighborhood/areas to avoid living in? From the driving around I have done, mostly everywhere seems tame.

Thanks much for the info. It is helping me to make my decision.

hmm... so the diesel emissions thing is somewhat regional here? Good to know, as I am shopping for some F1 mach 1.6 injectors.
