Another buggy project

I know the oldest 700's are junk, but they did improve them through the years.
If the engine passed the Compression test then it will likely be fine. You might have a sensor or two to replace, the junk yards like to break those when they pull motors...wait, did you buy the whole truck? If so, that would be a great way to go, so you aren't chasing parts. Those Gen III motors are real strong on the bottom end, so I doubt you'll have any problems there.
It really sounds like your putting a lot of thought into this project. I hope AA will have your transfer done in time and not leave you hanging like they did Timp!
Can't wait to see this coming together!

Nope, didn't buy the truck, but talked with AllTruck a lot to get them to do what I wanted. I pick it up tomorrow. I pulled the tranny and t-case yesterday and the fluid in the tranny is perfect. It also has a new looking torque converter, so it must have been rebuilt recently. I'm stoked.

Finished the donor rig today and ran into a few things, I guess to be expected. The worst being the orbital on the steering had been welded on the frame in a way I couldn't remove it without damage. The more I fought it, the more I decided to donate it to my sons new project (the donor rig). Anybody have a new Howe or PSC steering set laying around that they want to get rid of?????

Pics to come. I need to find a resizer for my home computer.

Thank you sir. These are all from today. The first pic is with the seats, tranny and trans out, and a bunch of misc stuff that we removed yesterday. The other pics are of the progress today. That last pic is the new home until Andy finds a donor Chev truck.

The trans I picked up had also been rebuilt, but I don't know when or by who. It lasted me a whole 6 months! That's kinda the way second hand stuff goes sometimes:-\, so I hope your luck is better than mine.
Getting a good start. You said your having the front and rear redone?

By the time I got up to Kyle's today, he had the motor in. We fit the hood, then started to modify the cowl. I brought the whole cowl up but we ended up cutting all but the top part off. Then we cut about 2" of that off. The last pic with the grill under the hood is actually how the hood and cowl will fit. Of course the bottom stringers will be modified to accomodate the radiator, winch and grill, in that order. I'm waiting for more pics from Kyle. He completed the new bottom string this afternoon and evening.

It's coming along. :D:cool:

NICE

Looks like you've got a little work on that hood. Use a BIG hammer. I'd never worked with that stuff before I helped Carl on his first buggy. THICK sheetmetal.

Where'd Kyle get those cool jackstands? I kinda want a couple of those.

Yeah, I found that out. We went through 4 cut off wheels and 2 sawsall blades, and ended up torching some of the cowl off. That stuff is brutal.

Oh no, we didn't say anything about having pro help. Everyone knows I can use all the professional help I can get. Kyle is the man though.

That's looking totally sweet!

Love the flatty hood/grill. And the color. Rat rod buggy LOL
Thought about the rat rod look and it just doesn't work for me. I do think it's looking kind of cool at the moment.

More pics from progress so far today. We were going to run tube just under the hood line, sticking out a bit, but Kyle came up with making a small fender out of them that would protect the hood more. He added a blade on the front too. The blade will be lowered about 2" from where it is now. I'm lovin it.
